MDCentral Doctor Directory and Scheduling

SAAS Market Network Connecting Doctors with New Patients

MDCentral provided a network connecting doctors with prospective new patients by means of an easy-to-use physician search and on-the-spot scheduling application.

The Problem

When a large healthcare system contacted Vertex about creating an application to facilitate online scheduling for doctors, we worked with them to expand their vision beyond scheduling to create an SEO-friendly free network for patient acquisition and retention.

Our Solution

We built MDCentral around a physician database that allowed potential patients to search for doctors by region, specialty, gender, languages spoken, special services provided, and much more. A comprehensive database of over 4,000 insurance providers allowed physician practice managers to precisely identify the insurance providers and plans each doctor accepted.

When patients identified the doctor they wished to visit, they could make an appointment immediately using MDCentral’s scheduling application, or they could use the contact information provided to email or call the doctor’s office to learn more.

Designed to Connect Doctors and Patients – in Minutes

The MDCentral application was designed to on-board patients immediately. The user interface made it quick and easy for prospective patients to search for a doctor and make an appointment through a short series of interactions leading up to the scheduling of a doctor visit. The entire process was designed to take fewer than two minutes.

Building on Decades of Experience

For MDCentral, Vertex built on its decades of work in healthcare to architect and develop an extensive and powerful database that encapsulated every aspect of a physician’s practice. It was designed to be flexible enough to adapt to the changing nature of doctor practice groups in an era of consolidation, and while being doctor-focused was nevertheless patient-centric in its user interactivity. Every kind of practice, from solo practitioner to large multi-specialty group was accommodated by its design. Physicians can even belong to multiple practice groups, and practice groups can own other groups.

In addition to its public-facing application for prospective patients, MDCentral also featured an administrative application for physician practice managers to use for scheduling, publishing information about its doctors, marketing its doctors, and managing patients.
